New home for Mountain Mash:
the Jugendgästehaus Duderstadt.
The Mountain Mash 2017 was a 'cherry on the cake' event. Around 50 dancers, including 18 first-time participants, met at the Jugendherberge Hannover International to get to know different types of dance in dance workshops and to celebrate the turn of the year together. On offer were square dance workshops in the mainstream, plus and A program. The introductions offered for the Round Dance were used extensively, and the Samba 'Quand Tu Chantes' was specially taught and danced in one session. The Contra Dance program was also well received and supplemented by an advanced workshop at the suggestion of the participants.
Added - this is the keyword for the character of the workshop program. Suggestions and wishes of the participants could be integrated into the program. So there was a session with 'dances of the earth' and for a partner who had not tried any of our dance styles before, there was a square dance intro. Infected by the Square Dance virus, a sleeping talent was awakened, so that he could dance the New-Year-dance after further exercises. The remaining figures of the mainstream program, he can now absorb in the class of Crazy Eights in itself. Welcome to the world of Square Dance!
All in all, the Mountain Mash was again a harmonious and convivial event from which the participants could take new knowledge and established dance experience. For the next Mountain Mash, there is still a hurdle to overcome: the Youth Hostel in Hannover closes from December 2018 for renovations. We are sure that we will find a suitable house and can offer this event again for the turn of the year 2018/19. You will find all the information gradually on the website www.mountainmash.de. Check it out now and then.
